As some of uou may know i have been having problems with the organisation of my university squash club and i now write a warning to all people considering joining a club, FIND OUT WHAT THEY OFFER BEFORE YOU PAY.  I finally found out that my club organised a ranking system, a one off tournament the week i was off injured so i never even got to prove myself, this also does no include the teams so they remain as much a closed shop as ever.  So always ask how the internal leagues are run, how you try out for teams, cost to join and cost per court and if you as a normal member get anything else like coaching etc, which i feel i should have got but it turns out is only for the team.  Just remember you pay the money so get good value.squash game squash extras How to add images to Members' Forum posts and replies here...

aprice - if the teams have been formed, make sure you get your name down as a reserve - fill-ins are always needed.
Good luck with it.

Hello aprice - To train to improve your game is one thing.  To play squash and run after the ball is another thing.  If you are serious to improve your standard of play your practice needs to be built around the following areas, which in turn need to be evaluated regularly, eg
  • Skills (your technique, grip, swing and footwork) - Strokes and Movement
  • Physical conditioning (energy, strength, speed and flexibility on court)
  • Mental  skills(your ability to focus and concentrate on court about the process)
  • Tactics (using the strokes to capitalise on the opponent's weaknesses)
To get a handle on what is required within the above requirements, go to the Home Page, Library, and click on the above tabs, read and try to grasp, where you are at in the above areas.
All training and playing should always incorporate one or two elements from the tips given mostly taking into account the weaknesses in your game.
Note: To gain improvement practice makes perfect, but perfect practice is a better idea.

I would love some advice on planning and goals cause i have no idea where i am  or where i am going to but as for going up a ladder we need to get one formed first!!  The current one is not in constant action so it happened once and you got "ranked" or in my case didn't as i was ill.  If you need more details to be able to give advice just say

Thank You

aprice - yep i can relate to all you are saying. Here is my view, hope it helps.
  •  It has happened to all of us at some time and one just has to keep on keeping on.
  • Just keep banging away, perform well, strive to become more consistent with your form, and you will get more wins under your belt and you will edge your way in. It is just a matter of time.
  • Also, humans being what they are, can stick together and it can be difficult to break into a system 'cos that may push their mates out of club positions, so be patient, keep cool, and in time you will break through.
If you want to ask more questions about  your performance planning and goals, just tell us and we can sure give you some stuff to go on with while you are struggling up the ladder.
View this a challenge.  Keep going, relax.

Squash is more than 60 sqm of court. You must get the theory knowledge as well, and you do share it perfectly here.
