Hi Ray,
Next on my wish list for the site is activating "PM" or personal message features.
Thanks Viper.

i have made a mistake by putting the recent forum menu on the right and will probably take that out on that page. i will expand the forum summary to allow more room for relevent info. most of the info there is easy to put in. it will be done late nov/early dec
thanks for the input
ps. there is also some other tweaking of the forum area that has to be done to make it a little more functional

Ray, first of all all dues to you for building the forum yourself, great effort.
Below is a link to a forum with all the features I was stalking about, ie everything displayed in one page view: thread names, name of thread starter, sticky threads, date, time and name of last poster, number of replies and number of views. also displayed can be users online.
Building the forum yourself I don't expect you to have the backup of a design team backed forum board, but rather these are just some of the features that go together to make a very easy to read forum page.
This is also displayed in ful page format which allows space for all the info in one line
Keep up the good work and thanks.

re the forum and recent posts:
you can view an excerpt of all the latest replies in, of all things, "latest replies to posts" - might be useful
also internet explorer users can use spell check - just download the library when you first use the checker - it is extremely simple t set up - just follow the set up path and its done.
unfortunately i have not been able to work a bug out of the firefox checker - it will have to wait for a short while

i will do it (there is no such function as such as i have built the forum from the ground up, but i know what you mean)

Thanks Ray, whilst I am on a roll can you enable "name of last reply to post " function.
It is not easy to see if there has been any new or different posts to a topic when viewing forum achive as it does not list anything other than the date of the last post which could mean no posts, one new post or a hundred new posts.
thanks

the system would not work when selecting a new post or thread from the forum category selector. it was working when posting a new thread from the left menu or from the top menu where i present the list of categories in a drop down list.
in any case the bug is fixed.
ps. viper, you are going to get your way on edit replies. just give me a week or two till things settle down little

The program will not accept new threads I keep getting this message:
"You haven`t filled in all the required details, please go back and try again"

Ray, I understand the preview button, but every forum I have ever been associated with users the edit post function, this function date stamps the edit time so responses can not be back edited to suit someones arguement.
Having the capacity to edit at a later date is very useful as often one does not have time to preview all posts.
Other capacity needed, would be posting a image (I know you said this was on the way) and spell check.
I understand bandwidth but with such a small board one would think it would not make much of a difference.
As to the power tiers in squash, as I have said you are better placed than me but I am afraid I still do not concur with the notion that responsibility for the development of the sport is best left in the hands of the local level.
I look forward to read more on your experiences of this matter though.
