Masters Squash is such a great social crowd. The love of the game far exceeds their capabilities as time goes by. The effort put into trying to win the matches is admirable. However, when the body is winding down the ability to keep the ball warm, move forward to chase drop shots, and rally is diminishing. Please consider the old phrase "get fit to play squash" which does make sense. The injuries when it is cold, the ball is cold, the rallies are short, the hard hitter has to keep the ball warm, the soft hitter uses the opponent's pace to play their little "dinky" shots. There is no flow or rhythm to the game, there are no rallies, therefore no fitness training involved. The frustration to end up with injury from trying to chase a cold ball, hit accurately with a dead ball, does not make much sense to me. It is not all about winning.
