Brown stuns world number one reports Squash Australia
"Australian Kasey Brown pulled off the biggest win of her career when she beat top seed and world number one Nicol David of Malaysia in the quarter-finals of the US Open squash tournament in Philadelphia on Monday.
Brown had never beaten David in nine previous meetings but she played the match of her life to inflict a rare defeat on the Malaysian superstar, winning 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-4.
The 26-year-old Brown took advantage of a string of errors from David to take a close first game, then held her nerve when the Malaysian fought back to win the second.
Brown then won a close third game and stunned David when she raced away to an 8-0 lead in the fourth, wrapping up the match in 59 minutes.
“I started well, then got a bit passive in the second,” Brown, who is coached by former world number one Rod Martin, said.
“I knew I had to come out and attack again in the third, then did the same in the fourth where everything just came off for me.
“She got a few points back, and I told myself to just keep steady and not change the game that had got me there, I know I have a bit of a reputation as a choker, so I was determined not to let it happen.”
Brown will take on Madeline Perry in the semi-finals following the Irishwoman’s 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 win over France’s Camille Serme."
Well done Kasey.
