Australia to play Dutch in second round
Fourth seeded Australia will take on the Netherlands in the second round of the Men’s World Teams Squash Championship in the German city of Paderborn after a tough 2/1 win over Finland on Tuesday to finish top of their pool.
Canberra’s Stewart Boswell opened the tie against the Fins with a four game win over Henrik Mustonen 11-5, 11-4, 3-11, 11-8 before Hobart’s Aaron Frankcomb sealed the win for the Australians.
Frankcomb, who has been in exceptional form all week, downed Matias Tuomi 11-8, 11-2, 11-8.
Finland’s number one Olli Tuominen beat New South Welshman Cameron Pilley 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 in the dead rubber.
Australia opted to rest number one David Palmer to give his injured ankle more rest before the knock-out stage begins on Wednesday.
