The Australian Open will be held from the 10th to 15th August, in Canberra.  The Aussies will jump at the chance to come home for a visit and the overseas visitors will be seeking our sunshine.

Good luck!

Watching some of the matches on Squash TV at the moment, very nice.

Am I imagining it or does Ramy Ashour hold his wrist very differently to most other players?

I'm heading to Brisbane today, and Canberra tomorrow. Should catch the last few of the first round matches and more after that. Looking forward to it...

Viridian has joined partners with the Australian Open in Canberra.  Viridian is the largest manufacturer of residential and commercial glass in Australia and is a division of leading building products company CSR. The glass court can be seen in use at Royal Canberra Theatre.
National Convention Centre, Canberra City Centre, ACT Australia.

Total Prizemoney US $200,000. More information extracted from advice received from SA.

"Squash is the one major sport that now relies heavily on glass technology – fully adopting the unique and remarkable properties of this material, and truly using glass in extraordinary ways - so it is a natural fit for us.

“The current glass court technology has been around for decades, yet advances in glass technology are opening up exciting new capabilities and design opportunities every day.  We see outstanding opportunities to apply some of our technical expertise to build a better court," Lachlan said.  “If we can improve the overall experience for players and spectators, then this can only act to grow interest and participation in the sport.”

The ACT Squash Association is looking to extend the partnership to include the use of a wide range of CSR building materials in the construction of two new squash centres in the region.

This is very encouraging news for squash.
