I usually get inspiration from watching the tennis over the New Year. It is always interesting to compare the players, ie the sports psych, technique, attitude, styles, etc. If you observed Federer he is a cool customer, and does not waste too much excessive energy with his movement and swing. Over a long match this has to count for a lot of energy saving. Now reflecting onto Nadal who is very physical and looks as though he expends at least 25% more with the bodily movements, and pounding movements that are not kind to his joints as the match progresses, and as his career progresses. It is that physical pressure that tends to take its toll on the mind too; notice how the players tend to slip in and out of "the zone".
Why am I talking about this? To give players an awareness of how movement and fluency of feet and racket can make a big difference during a competitive game. The calmer you can think the better the strategy.
