Hi all,
I recently strung a racket for a customer with a Technifibre dynergy tour 125 with Technifibre X1 Bi-phase and they broke within minutes of play, i did the string job again and the same happened in exactly the same place, top corner of the racket, the last but one of the crosses. I thought it would be a defect in the frame, but i cant see or feel anything? The customer is obviously not pleased and i dont know what it could be. Any ideas??
Many Thanks
Fran

hi fran
we both know that strings should not break so soon after a restring. the fact that it happened twice in the same place indicates to me that you are doing something which is marking, deforming or nicking the string, possibly when you are tying off or changing direction (for 1 piece restrings).
it may be something you are doing with the awl, if you use one or perhaps you are inadvertantly scoring the string at that point with one of the tools of trade.
There might even be a small imperfection on your clamps which just happens to be showing up there by marking the string in that situation.
it might also be worthwhile checking to see if others have had the same problem.
it would also be useful to know if you are an experienced stringer or just starting out.
in my experience, it takes very little to create an imperfection in a string which breaks easily when put under tension. especially if you have not done a lot of restrings, it does not take much to cause these problems, especially with some of the multi filament strings
i hope you get ot the bottom of the problem.
