watched shabana v el shorbagy yesterday, i think el shorbagy still cannot get past his respect for the personal hero. he had really nice flashes, but amr shows how to finish a rally.

The four top seeds make the semis. James Willstrop (ENG), David Palmer (AU), Gregory Gaultier (FRA), Amr Shabana (EGY). It is great to see different countries represented in this tournament showing how tight the top players are in standard. Luckily for Willstrop, after being down two nil, pretty convincingly too, then to bounce back and take the next three games was a good effort (I bet Golan is kicking himself now!).

In every match there can be a turning point, and El Shorbagy turned the match against Matthew around. PSA reported this of the match:

"Matthew squandered a match ball in the fourth game and complained bitterly after being barged to the floor and receiving a dead-leg from his young opponent.  At first the Englishman was denied a let ball but the referee’s decision was overturned on appeal to the three-man team of officials.

Matthew played on, but Shorbagy showed amazing composure for such a young player to draw level and win the tie-break.  The 28-year-old from Sheffield was clearly struggling in the fifth as his calf seized up and from 4-4 it was Shorbagy who edged ahead and held his nerve to win a pulsating contest."

Check out the Photo Gallery. It is a tough contest.

It is time to secure your tickets for Canary Wharf.  Thierry Lincou goes down to Borja Golan.

PSAlive.tv hope to have better quality MP4s available after the quarter finals.
