The KL Open will be a tournament for Natalie Grainger to remember. Nicol David (MAL) had been unbeaten since October 07.
This five set match shows just how close the top players are, and just a bit of a hiccup in form can cause defeat.
A word of encouragement for all those who have trouble defeating the player seeded above you, just keep trying and one day it can happen. When it happens once, it can easily happen again.

Wow, I wasn't sure when Nicol would lose again. Natalie must be thrilled to be the one to show that Nicol isn't invincible.

Peter Barker (ENG) wins the Mens at KL Open.
Both the Mens and Womens defending champions from Malaysia got beaten which would have been disappointing for them wanting to show exceptional form for the locals. It sounds a bit like "pressure".
This is an interesting comment from Peter Barker, after his opponent Adrian Grant jarred his hamstring in the first game "I definitely noted a bit of a change in his movement after he fell. But I tried to carry on playing my own game - being steady and boringly British!"
