What the weather can do

There might need to be some adjustments necessary to your game if the weather has turned cold or hot, unless you are priveleged to aircon to control the temperature.  Sudden temperature changes, I guess the same as different opponents, can require some slight alterations.  If you are not aware of this, the equipment can get the blame. What to look for:

  • Ball does not come through as quickly in cooler weather - so you might need to take another step, and lunge a bit lower..
  • Ball bounces higher in hot weather and often the backwall drives can be overhit.
  • The cooler weather can slow down the ball/game so if you like it fast will have to work a bit harder with your drive swing.
  • To get good length the height of the target on the front wall will help with better depth.

When you are a bit slow on court it is nice if the younger opponents hit the ball hard and keep the ball at a nice temperature, and then the lobs will work much better - beware, as the older experienced opponents will probably only hit the ball as fast as they can run Frustrating for those who like a fast game.
