Try to keep focus on a movement back towards the middle of the court This will mean only a couple of steps to get to the return; and avoiding the huge amount of momentum gained when chasing a ball from one corner/side of the court to the other, and then ending up crashing into the walls at high speed.
Just think of yourself as a "4 pointed star" (placed nicely into the squash court) and as you move to each extremity, return to the centre of the star. Maybe my imagination has gone mad!! How can I chase the ball and think about all this stuff?
Check out the Library/Strokes Movement.
Ghosting will also be helpful.
