I have a pair of tickets for the British Open finals day which i won in a competition. They are priced at £50 each and are behind the back wall and very central.

I can't get the day off work unfortunately so if anyone wants them i will sell them at half price (i.e 2 tickets for £50)

Let me know and we can sort out payment and delivery etc.

Sounds like an epic match. I'm looking forward to DivX availability of the mens and womens finals. Apparently Nicol David moves well, so I'd better see how that works.

Hi Rippa and all

I can honestly say that the men's final was the most ...

Palmer takes his fourth British Open Title.  Those ticket holders were probably sitting on the edge of their seats.  Palmer probably gained some physical advantage with a w/o from Darwish and had a bit more in reserve for the final against Willstrop. There is not much in these matches as any one of the top players can scramble over the line at any time.

What did our members think about the matches?

Talking of bargains, InternationalSport, the tournament promoters, recently ran an auction of 2 lots for the opportunity to spin the racket to determine who serves for both the women's and men's finals on Monday.  Each lot also included a brand new Aerogel Ultimate (as used by Shabana), the matchball signed by both finalists, a signed framed photo with the players and a free ticket in the VIP area.

I was on EBay during the closing stages of both auctions thinking I would be just watching as the price soared into the hundreds of pounds.  The men's lot went up to £193 but the women's lot stayed stuck at just £11 as the final minutes approached.  It went up to £55 in the closing stages so I thought I would chance my arm with a £100 bid in the final seconds.  I secured the lot for just £62.90!!  This is way cheaper than I could find online for just the Aerogel Ultimate and I really could do with a new racket as well!

So, I will be called onto the court to spin the racket for the women's final!  It's a dream opportunity for any squash player of any level, yet part of me feels slightly embarrassed about securing this for such a low price, plus I can't help feeling that the promoters would have done better and given more back to the game had they made this opportunity available to promising British junior players.  I have actually emailed the promoters to find out if it would be possible to allow such a junior attending the final to at least come onto court to perform the actual racket spin.

Anyway, not sure if the women's final will gain any coverage via PSAlive, but if so, look out for me when it comes to the racket spin!

Cheers

I'm already going with one of my regular playing partners as I got 2 free tickets via the ISport VIP membership I mentioned here a while ago.  Still using the free Hi-Tec 4:SYS shoes I received from that offer as well so to me, it was 50 quid very well spent!

I agree that a Monday for the final is not ideal for the reason you mention ferris so I made sure I booked the leave as soon as I knew I was going.  Really looking forward to it given the quality of both the men's and women's draw.  We are also going to take the opportunity to look around Liverpool city centre as it has been hugely transformed as a result of being the European Capital of Culture for 2008.

Mike, talking of tournaments in Australia, there does not appear to be any really major tournaments on the PSA or WISPA Tours.  This seems strange given Australia's fine squash traditions.  Why is that?  I have heard you Aussies talk about the decline of the game over there, but I imagine it will make it difficult to arrest this decline without any really big tournaments to encourage interest.

Cheers

If the British open was being held in Australia this year I'd be all over your offer.
