As they say, ain't that the truth. We do have articles in the archives about the Ups and Downs of Squash, and another Squash is like a See-Saw. I had to smile when Squash Australia reported their player interviews.
"Australians David Palmer and Cameron Pilley are out of the rich Kuwait Open squash tournament in
Fifth seeded Palmer was shocked by England’s Lee Beachill 11-7, 11-10 (3-1), 11-9 while the unseeded Pilley, who upset eighth seeded Wael El Hindi in the opening round, lost a marathon match against Malaysia’s Ong Beng Hee 11-2, 7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9.
It was brave effort from Pilley, who had beaten El Hindi for the first time ever.
“I’m over the moon,” he said after the first round. “It’s the first time I've beaten him in six attempts.
“I've been so close in the past and never managed it, but I wanted to win so badly this time it's a joke.”
Pilley said he suffered a bit of a letdown after beating the Egyptian.
“He was a lot sharper than me at the start,” he said. “It was just a grind to win the games I won but considering how I am feeling I am pleased to have pushed him that close.”
Palmer said he didn’t know what had gone wrong in his loss to Beachill.
“I felt good before the match, but on the court I felt as flat as possible and so slow,” he said.
“I was waiting for things to happen and not pushing things.”
I felt I could relate to every word spoken by these guys and I am sure it will mean something to every player irrespective of their level of play. I hope you feel encouraged after reading these comments.
