I am intreuged at how much ability/form people lose when they stop playing pro, looking at some county/PSL results you can see guys who were number 2/3 in the world losing 3-0 to people who are current <20 ranked.  Is this purely due to lack of fitness are there other reasons?

As soon as you lose any of your former qualities there will be a drop off of form, eg

  • weight gain
  • lack of flexibility
  • old injuries preventing too much practice
  • lack of physical conditioning
  • age

It is good that they get on the court at all.

After reading your hints and tips on serving, footwork, strokes, my game is becoming more and more professional and my coach is shocked with the development I've made.
