This is a good idea. Can anyone open these and play them? If so, why can't I?

Hi Sparty,
You can pay £3 on psalive and get DivX replays which is fantastic quality - psalive also do a tournament package now as well where £10 gets you all qfs, sfs and final

the qualtiy of the live stream is pretty much irrelavnt for me. I'd just really like replays to be of that quality. who knows maybe they just need to film with better cameras and use better post production for the replays. For really great matches they could actually recompile the footage from all their cameras ( rather than just re-encoding their live stream) and cut out a lot of the unecessary before match and in between game footage. this would enable them to keep the file size smaller whilst increasing the quality. I'd pay more than £3 per match for PSA replays with as good quality as these ones are.

this is on the squashsite forum
the women put all their efforts into a single stream by the looks of it but watching the Saudi Event, I could only watch at psalives lower stream. I think both psalive streams add up to better than what the women did so you are not comparing like with like.
I've emailled feedback @ psalive about this topic and I'll copy the reply I got below
Hi Mark
Thanks for your email.
There are a lot of parameters that go into the production of a psalive programme and one element is the streams that we offer from a location. We would of course love to webcast at various different rates (the higher the rate, the higher the quality) but there are two main limiting factors. The location internet connection (some venues only allowed us a 256kbps upload which is not very fast) and also the typical connection of our members - We've brought in tournament radio because some of our members only have dial-up available but many only have the most basic broadband connection and will struggle with anything above a 256kbps stream.
We are getting a good reaction to streaming at higher rates as an additional option and may even increase this to the rate you mentioned in your rate or further but we have to react to what our members tell us and if we stream at 1mbps and 95% of our membership cannot access it, then its not useful unless we can also perform streams which are mid-range also.
On the other question you raise, we are always looking to improve to content and we are not restricting ourselves to staying with the same products should something else become available.
I hope this answers your question and we do hope to offer further options in Bermuda which is coming up soon.

well I have to say I'm amazed. the quality of these is great!
I thought PSAlive were doing a good job but now I'm convinced they can increase the quality of their replays. If PSAlive replays were as good as these I'd buy every match.
Take note, Adrian!

Yes, I doubt it is just XP that is the issue. I bet it is something to do with Windows Medial Player. Maybe make sure to see if you have the latest version or the latest updates. I can open the streaming fine with Opera and Explorer, but the error probably occurs after WMP opens.
After watching some parts again, I think the referee was clearly biased to Grinham over Grainger. Most of the close calls went to Grinham. Looked like Grainger was competing against the refs also. There was one play where Grainger came in to hit a drop, and Grinham actually had to move her head to avoid getting hit. Grainger held up and all she got was a let. Then later on Grainger hit a drop and got clear, Grinham holds up when Grainger was out of the way, and gets a stroke call. Nonsense.

Not really, XP is enough, but you have to use Internet Explorer.
I had no problem watching both live and replays, very good quality image.

Thanks jbs for that info. At least you saw a good match...mine is XP so maybe Vista is the secret to the download....

Funny, my Vista computer at work sees it fine with a superfast internet connection. My XP computer at home isn't seeing it at all. Unfortunately there's no way to save the streamed video. I used to be able to save streamed video (like that on PSAlive) using RMplayer or WMplayer if I can install it.

I live in the UK and couldn't watch a single thing - a poor attempt I'm afraid by the Women - replays don't work and the Live was just a picture every 5 seconds
Watched the PSALIVE final in Saudi - fantastic coverage and the picture quality was excellent at their new higher rate

I can see them fine. It's really nice quality video, nicer than PSAlive with better microphones and video quality. The only thing lacking is commentary. I like how they have cameramen following the players and their expressions. Tells a lot more of the picture than PSAlive.
