wooden racquets

As a novice player i am am looking for advice on choosing a suitable racquet. I do have in my possesion a wooden slazenger racquet, is there any merit in using this peice of equipment or is this a silly question.

if you still use a black and white TV and an outhouse and then by all means use a wooden racket!
Seriousy though, they were replaced for a reason, and it wasn't to preserve trees! even a cheap modern racket will perform much better than any old wooden one. Don't make life hard for yourself with a crappy old racket!
