Caught back-pedalling

As the rally progresses, and particularly if the opponent is playing a deep driving game, there is a tendency to gradually move further back in the court, until finally, the opponent plays a quick boast.
This in turn forces a weaker return, due to the bad court positioning, and the slower forward movement to retrieve the ball.

If this keeps happening to you, consider:-
- Don't turn your back to the opponent and back-pedal from the front of the court. Watch the ball at all times.
- Move back into the centre court area after every return.
- Hunt for volleys and that will automatically make you want to move forward.
