I am shocked! I am totally shocked. Beachill losing to Barker, Lincou being sent home after second round by Ramy Ashour, Boswell Beating Matthew, Gaultier beating Grant in 146 minutes match () Big John being out after FIRST ROUND!!!! Squash will have new heroes now... Ashour is on his way to the top. He just need a lot of experience with big guys and he will be top 6 soon.
I am sorry to Gaultier facing Shabana in the quarters. Shabi is still *angry* with Gaultier beating him in the front of the home crowd... James Willstrop will have a tough task to beat Darwish (By the way, Darwish upset Ricketts), Barker-Ashour is gonna be a thriller. Barker just sent home Beachill, Ashour beaten WORLD NUMBER THREE. Last Quarter may go easily to Palmer, but maybe it's time for Boswell to reach Semis...

Thanks for the summary Slavic.
The Guru once said "squash is like a SEE SAW" and he could not have spoken a truer word.
Then he went on to say "when one player is up the other is down" - ain't that the truth.
Obviously there is a big purse in Hong Kong as it has brought out all the top players in both men and womens squash.
Often in a tournament the earlier rounds are a bit easy and for the top players just a warm up, but it looks as though every match in this tournament is hard work.
These players have been backing up for big tournaments more than once a month for months now. So, if players do not need the money, I guess they would try to peak for the big events. This would enable them to come in "fresh". Then, I guess the sponsors will not be happy as it is the appearance of the top players that attracts sponsorship and also the dollars.
These results show what mental and physical pressure the top tournaments continually place on the body and mind.
The other side is it gives encouragement to the under-dogs who know they can win when the top players are just "a fraction off". It only takes one element of their total game to let them down and bingo, a loss.

I won't even comment.
If Ramy Ashour is beating David Palmer... I am speachless.
I predicted Final - Palmer-Willstrop, it is all different.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? I LOVE IT. Squash is again full of surprises and it is getting really fascinating experience to watch
Prease in the top 12 is getting really really exciting to watch. Matches in the second round look like finals, not to mention the semis ;-)
and I have to agree with you Rita on mental/psychical pressure. It is so visible. I was only waiting for the first signs of battle fatigue of Matthew and Gaultier... you can't be always in the top form when you play 2 big tournaments per month, travelling from Asia to USA, forth and back... always on the run...
