It is one thing having a few niggling injuries which can be managed, but quite another when there is a litany of injuries which prevent you from playing or consign you to playing at a much reduced level. That is the situation that I find myself in at the moment.
Last blog I reported that I was looking forward to getting back into form after a 6 week injury period. I played my first real match without injury and although not great it was a start (and a relief) Not unexpectedly I pulled up a little sore but I was quite satisfied that after each day, I was improving.
Yesterday my foot, (part of the same leg of the injured calf) which was the main cause of soreness, was almost fully recovered. But again, last night when I tried to push off hard to recover a shot, I strained something in the arch of my foot. I finished the match with it but it was totally unsatisfactory. I went home, applied some ice followed up with some heat.
This morning it is extremely sore - I can barely put my foot down. Treatment has been booked, but I have decided that this blog has had enough of injury. It is boring enough rabitting on about some of my pathetic attempts at trying to play well, but when it is an even more mundane account of sore bits, enough is enough!
In the meantime, I will fill the blog with observations of others especially those who I coach. Watch out if I come to Squash courts near you! How to add images to Members' Forum posts and replies here...
