Don't Get Too Excited

Even though the past few weeks have been very frustrating, not being able to play without limping about like some demented pirate with a wooden leg, I do believe that I am starting to hit the ball better and more consistently and with more accuracy. My tactical nous is also coming more naturally.
Last week against Steve, even though my mobility was restricted, when I managed to get balanced, and given half a chance I hit the winner or created the opportunity about 80% of the time. Now that I am moving a lot better, (even though i am hesitant in the take off) I feel quite natural when attacking, and I am flowing though the shot better than I can remember for a number of years.
However, I don't want to get too excited as there have been false dawns previously. What probably has changed somewhat is that I am approaching each shot with some confidence knowing that if I hit the shot which i am aiming for, it will put my opponent under pressure and create opportunities.
A problem with my game which I was well on the way to fixing before I went OS, was that of being transfixed by the choices some players had, and as a result, not really watching what was going to happen. As a rule, if you watch carefully, you should be able to pick up the cues and move accordingly.
My match with Brian tomorrow night will give me a clue on my progress in this aspect of the game. He is a player who has had this effect on me in the past. I must get past the idea that he is deceptive, and concentrate on the process of watching and moving rather than getting caught in the glare of the headlights as he is about to steam roll me.
