Predicting whether? but in Ireland it always rains

Are there any good tips on how to anticipate what kind of return shot your opponent might play? I tried watching my opponent before he strikes, but if im close to him at the time i risk missing a fast return as im concentrating on the player rather than, where on the court, the best position for me might be to counter his return.

reraw - yes it is a bit of experience to know where the opponent is going to hit the ball, and the skill is being able to read the possible returns from the particular position the opponent is returning. The difference between lower grade and higher grade players is quite often their ability to anticipate, and of the course the number of cues they receive from:

speed of the ball
position on the court
height of the ball
depth of the ball within the court
body position/angle of the opponent
racket swing
speed of the swing
length of the swing
angle of the racket face
striking position of the ball

then being prepared, and able to move into position to retrieve the ball, and of course hit a reasonable shot as well.
