Here is the official report of the first nights results of the matches.

Sounds very interesting and well done to those who put it on, hopefully we see more of this sort of thing.
But,
60 to 70 people..........
May have had only 50 or less actually buy tickets, say 50, thats $2,000 income less expenses.
Can not see it being any sort of financial sucess.

Stewart Boswell played Anthony Ricketts first and won 3-1. There was then a challenge doubles match which was very entertaining before David Palmer played Dan Jenson, David winning 3-1. The players were playing great squash and everyone was well impressed.
In between games the players mingled amongst the public and were very approachable. The night finished with a Q&A session with players.
I think $40 was great value for what was on offer. Seeing the #2 and #4 in the world playing in a small venue, close up is not something you get the chance to do very often.
Oh and David Palmer was very impressive. You must be very hard to please squash36 if you think otherwise.

watching a squash match.
Well, I always thought that squash was much more enjoyable to play, and much more challenging, as well as being better for my health than playing football. Also, a sport that could be played for 40 years, which is pretty good in a life span of 60 - 80 years?
Yes, our sport is in a bit of a delima .... if there are spare seats at the match tonight, I hope they gave some away to up and coming juniors to fill the audience.

the big problem is, i wasn't all that impressed with dave when i saw him play, the biggest probelm is that squash just isn't much of a spectator sport

1. Will it be marketed properly ? This is where we so often see quality squash fall down.
Not sure if it was. I found out via the NSW squash website.
2. $40 is quite expensive for squash, I presume there is a scale of ticket prices as you would not pay the same if you were back or side of court.
I would disagree about the price being expensive, but I suppose that comes down to what the individual wants to pay. The lack of world class squash on view in Australia means I am willing to pay $40. There is no price scale as I believe all tickets are for the back of the court.
3. The event will need value adding to really give value for money, is there such additional activites planned ? Door prizes, competetions, give aways, etc, etc ?
I believe so.
sounds good, i would go but i saw dave play recently, the price is a bit of a problem though
Why would seeing David Palmer play recently stop you from seeing him again!? Would you only watch one of the Wallabies tri-nations matches? Also, you have Ricketts, Boswell and Jenson playing.
I did struggle to drum up some interest amongst squash playing friends for this event. Not sure what causes this appathy. It seems most squash players would rather watch their mates play pennant finals than watch the elite.

Fantastic !
This is the sort quality squash this country needs to raise interest.
More innovation style of squash matches need to put forward like this, even somrthing akin to "Skins" in golf would be something to work on.
Some questions :

4. Connect the squash punter with the pros, for instance a short Q & A session with these stars would be great fun and interesting I believe.
Ray and Rita, can I suggest something---->
