Crowding!

Some players think it is good tactics to crowd their opponents. There are lots of opinions as to what people term crowding. And, of course, the player who sits on the opponent's shoulder restricting the shots never admits it.
At a National Title I had this frustrated player pulling their shot because the opponent was standing too close which was causing them to "pull" their shots and make errors . So after the second game, I said to my student "position yourself, stand firm, and play the stroke, and don't let it bother you, it is your shot at the ball". That did help the player take a firm stand about the intimidating situation.
But, unfortunately, the opponent continued their tactic, and got a blood nose.
The lesson is -

- It is better to win fairly.
- The word does get around in player circles, and these tactics are no secret any more. Besides, if the Ref does not take charge of the situation on court, an accident is bound to happen.
- Also, if your shot rebounds into the middle of the court just get out of the way, and then run run run.
